Every extra tier on a pricing page is another decision a customer has to make. When we had four plans, most visitors compared the middle two for a while and then left.
We cut it to two plans: one for people starting out, one for teams. Sign-ups went up, and support questions about “which plan is right for me” nearly disappeared.
The lesson is not that two is a magic number. It is that each option should exist because a real customer needs it, not because a spreadsheet suggested it.
